I heard yesterday on the news, when driving home from Penzance, about the Pandora Inn which was on fire. A sad day for a lovely building as the roof collapsed onto the main building and the cob walls were suffering from the water poured onto the fire.
Last year I visited the Pandora Inn, along with my work colleagues as a team building experience, we parked at Mylor Bridge and then walked along the creek to the Inn. A lovely walk and I had hoped to do that again this year but with the dogs (as they are allowed into the lower bar area of the Inn).
The staff of the Pandora Inn were not harmed by the fire, but the Manager and his family were living above the Inn and had to be accomodated last night elsewhere. St Austell Brewery have announced that they will rebuild, and I am glad even though it will not be quite the same old Pandora, it will at least be hopefully the same lovely thatched pub.
PS. the food was lovely too, although the weather meant we had to eat inside on the day we went.
