John McCrae - In Flanders Field









































It is interesting to see John's handwritten version, but it still moves me as much now as when I first read it.

Its a beautiful poem, purely written, however the stanza -

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

always upsets me.
